Middlebury Paddle Club General Info

Middlebury Paddle Club was designed as a place for local paddlers of all abilities to come together. We are open to all abilities and non motorized water craft. There are no formal trip leaders but we recommend that paddlers discuss each outing before launching to make sure everyone is on board with the trip plan. A typical paddle season for us is Mid April - October dependent upon the weather. If you are interested in joining our club please sign up for our email list below. Thanks and happy paddling

Paddles are schedule every week for Thursday Night (no rain date for 2013)

Required equipment: Canoe or kayak, pfd, head lamp.
Recommended equipment: Dry bag, spray skirt, drinking water, rain jacket, change of clothes, bilge pump, paddle float, sunscreen and food or snacks.

2013 Season
-Paddles are schedule every Thursday Night (paddles canceled due to weather will not be rescheduled)
-We will schedule Full Moon Paddles starting in June and running through September
-Check the paddle club page around 4PM the day of the paddle for any cancellations due to weather
-Please send an email to info@mmvt.com if you plan on attending, that way we will wait for you at the launch site
-Dress appropriate for the water temperature and be ready to launch at 6PM
-Here are a few classes we would like to offer this summer (no cost just friends helping friends)
Wet Exits, Rolling Class, Jackson Kayak demo Night, Potluck, Overnight Trip

MPC - CANCELLED DUE TO POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS - Otter Creek (Middlebury), June 16th, launch at 6PM

TONIGHTS PADDLE IS CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER!

This Wednesdays paddle will be on the Otter Creek in Down Town Middlebury. Parking will be in the municipal lot behind Mr. Ups restaurant and we will be paddling up stream towards the confluence with the Middlebury River, then turn around and back to our cars.

MPC - Lake Champlain, Monday June 7th, launch at 6PM

This Monday we will be paddling on Lake Champlain once again. I have never launched from this spot but both Tim and Laurel say that its great. Please bring all of the gear that we have mentioned in the last few paddles with a headlamp being very important.

MPC - Button Bay (Lake Champlain) - Wednesday June 2nd, Launch at 6PM

We are changing our scheduled nights for MPC to Monday and Wednesday nights for the rest of the season.
For this Wednesday night we will be heading to the public launch just south of Button Bay state park. We will plan to paddle around Button Island and head either North or South on the lake dependent on wind.

Here are a few items that you can pack into a dry bag and bring with you on these early season paddles: a change of warm clothes and hat, a headlamp, neoprene socks or paddle booties, rain jacket, paddling gloves and a water bottle.

MPC - Full Moon Paddle on Lake Dunmore, Thursday May 27th, launch at 7:30PM

This will be our first full moon paddle of the season. Please dress appropriately (bring some extra clothes in a dry bag), a headlamp, water bottle and possibly a snack to share. We will be launching from the public access on West Shore Road just south of Waterhouses.

MPC - Little Otter into Lake Champlain, Monday May 24th, Launch at 6PM

Sorry for the delay in posting this weeks paddle but we have been a bit busy. This should be a great night for a paddle with temps in the 50's and a little bit of moonlight to help guide us as it gets dark. We will launch from the public access on the Little Otter and head out in to Lake Champlain (Hawkins Bay).
